San Angelo ISD Announces Proposed Elementary Attendance Boundaries

At last night’s Regular Board Meeting, San Angelo ISD administration presented recommendations for proposed elementary attendance boundary adjustments to take effect during the 2027-2028 school year. The proposed changes are intended to help balance enrollment across the district, improve operational efficiency and support long-term student needs in response to declining enrollment and budgetary pressures.

Over the course of the semester, the San Angelo ISD Committee on Academics, Stewardship and Efficiency (CASE), comprised of nearly 70 stakeholders, met six times to review enrollment trends, campus capacity and district data while developing a recommended elementary attendance zone map for consideration by the San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees.

School districts across Texas and the nation are evaluating attendance boundaries and campus utilization as they respond to declining enrollment, changing demographics and the need to balance student populations across campuses in response to declining birth rates and more options for parents to educate their children.

The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote on the proposed attendance boundary adjustments during the Regular Board Meeting on June 15, 2026.

If approved, San Angelo ISD will provide additional communication and transition information to affected families and staff ahead of implementation.

Families and community members are also reminded of the district’s “Attendance Zone” webpage, which allows users to enter their address to view their current zoned campus. If approved by the Board of Trustees, the webpage will be updated to reflect the new attendance boundaries.
